Fairmont Tremblant has earned some new awards in 2021. Conde Nast Traveler readers and editors include Fairmont Tremblant in their Top Ten Resorts in Canada for 2021. CAA/AAA has awarded the resort its Four Diamond Award for Best Housekeeping for 2021. Luxurious accommodations for a couples getaway

For skiers, it just doesn’t get any better than Fairmont Tremblant. Pick up your skis and boots from the locker area adjacent to the slopes, walk out the door and you’re ready to go. The mountain operators are following the reduced lift capacity protocols. Normally guests can purchase lift tickets at the hotel, but with reduced mountain capacity this year; all tickets must be purchased at www.tremblant.ca

The Bonfire & Igloo Experience has already been a success with couples and families. Adirondack chairs (with heavy blankets) are arranged around an outdoor fire pit. Children can play in the igloo, and everyone can enjoy hot chocolate and s’mores. This duration of this memorable family experience is 90 minutes and moderately priced. Ice skates are available on a complimentary basis for the outdoor rink adjacent to the St. Bernard Chalet.

The resort has both indoor and an outdoor all-season pool with a heated deck. Nothing like swimming while skiers slide by! (During the current health restrictions, check to see if an appointment must be made for the pools.)

Winner of the Open Table Diners’ Choice Award, the Choux Gras Brasserie Culinaire has been a guest favourite since it opened. The L’Axe lobby restaurant offers casual dining, and take-out service is available from Le Ricochet from 7am until 2pm. In-room dining is offered to all guests from 7am to 10pm. Given the fluctuating health restrictions, my suggestion is to visit the resort’s web site and check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for the status on restaurants.

Anne Marie Johns has enjoyed a rewarding career with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts

Like many hoteliers, Anne-Marie Johns was “introduced to the hotel industry through summer employment.” Johns worked at the Chateau Lake Louise, while studying at the University of Western Ontario.

Her first job was as a server at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. “What I enjoyed most were the friendships created [and] meeting like-minded individuals open to adventure and travel.”

Johns supplemented her work experience by attending hotel school through Fairmont’s educational- assistance program. She also earned two certificates with Cornell University in Hospitality Management and Marketing, and participated in the Accor International Hotel Management Program in partnership with the ESSEC School of Business in the UK.

Now 32 years later — after stints at Montreal’s the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, the Fairmont Monte Carlo and the Jasper Park Lodge — Johns is happily ensconced at the Fairmont Mont Tremblant. “What makes the Fairmont Tremblant unique is the people culture and the colleagues’ genuine abilities to engage with our guests,” says Johns. But the hotel’s positioning as Tremblant’s only ski-in and ski-out hotel, and its re-positioning of its F&B offerings have solidified its position as one of North America’s leading ski resorts.

After nearly two years in which COVID-19 has pummelled hotels, Johns believes the pandemic has provided her leadership team “with the opportunity to be innovative in reviewing structures and processes while providing engaging guest experiences in a safe and secure environment. We’re currently building back to be better than ever.
