Artists Orchestre FILMharmonique Francis Choinière, conductor Choeur des Mélomanes Soloists Ilanna Starr (Elsa) Praised for her “dramatically incisive” stage presence and “lovely mezzo voice”, Canadian-American Ilanna Starr returns to Opéra de Montréal for her second season in their Atelier lyrique. She was recently named a district winner in the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, a semi-finalist in the 2024 International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition, and the winner of the third prize in opera at the 2024 Nuits lyriques de Marmande Competition. Elena Howard-Scott (Anna) Hailing from Winnipeg, Elena is a versatile soprano residing in Toronto, Ontario. Elena has recently completed her Artist Diploma in Voice at the Glenn Gould School (Royal Conservatory of Music), under the tutelage of Adrianne Pieczonka and Peter Tiefenbach. She also holds a Bachelor of Music (Vocal Performance) from the University of Manitoba, where she studied with Tracy Dahl. Having grown up in a musical family, Elena has loved being on stage since childhood, whether it be in orchestra, dance, musicals, or solo day at school. Deemed “someone to watch” (LudwigVanToronto), Elena is a brave and committed performer, and enjoys performing in a wide variety of styles. Sam Champagne (Olaf / Hans / Kristoff) Sam Champagne is a Canadian tenor and concert producer with a voice described as having “…impeccable intonation, correct diction, expression and musicality”, Ludwig Van Montreal. As a soloist, Mr. Champagne “[allows us] to appreciate the depth of his voice”, Eklectik Media. Since 2024, he has been touring Canada with various shows and productions. He was the lead singer for the Canada-wide tour of Twilight – In Concert performing in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver at Salle Wilfrid Pelletier, Meridian Hall, and the Orpheum Theatre. In 2026, he will make his debut as Pang in the OPCM’s concert production of Puccini’s Turandot at Maison Symphonique.
