Through its raw expression, this creation is a critique of humanity’s conquering relationship with the planet. The quintet mixes puppets and movements in an unusual conceptual hip-hop. Choreographed by Elon Höglund, this work is a profound meditation on our ancestral connection with the Earth. Set in a dystopian future where plants no longer grow, an orphan is entrusted with a profound mission: to relocate the last living flower to a sanctuary where it can thrive, a delicate symbol of nature’s essence and the boundless creativity of the inner child. Tentacle Tribe Approaching choreography through a wide variety of movement philosophies, Montreal-based dance duo Tentacle Tribe concocts uncommon dance works with a contemporary approach. The result of a Canadian-Swedish alliance between choreographers Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund, Tentacle Tribe combines their experience and creativity to transcend the boundaries between street and contemporary dance in a unique signature. Derived from Hip Hop concepts, their gestures draw on the essence of break and popping as well as the corporality of the animal kingdom with significant partnership work. Founded in 2012, the company has 9 stage creations, notably THREESIXNINE, awarded the Prix de la danse, best choreographic work of the 2018 season, GHOST and PRISME, 6 films and a significant national and international reputation.
