Sixteen-year-old Divine’s only real friend is Jesus. When her family joins a new church she learns that the world around her is not as it seems. With heart and humour, Vierge follows four Congolese-Canadian girls as they navigate Christianity, virginity, and teenage hormones.

Don’t miss the Vierge Black Out Performance on February 15, 2025. Black Out Performance is a special evening dedicated to celebrating Black-identifying patrons and offering them a space to enjoy, reflect on, and discuss the play as a community.

Black Theatre Workshop had the joy to witness the power of Black Out Nights during its co-curated run of Is God Is at the National Arts Centre, and is proud to host the first event of its kind for one of their mainstage productions.

Black Theatre Workshop (BTW) is Canada’s longest-running theatre company dedicated to the works of Black and diasporic communities. BTW’s mission is to promote and produce outstanding theatre that educates, entertains, and inspires. Black Theatre Workshop pushes boundaries and inspires dialogue to increase people’s understanding of cultural differences, perspectives, and experiences.
