Les Grands Ballets presents

MAESTRO, an entrancing homage to the giants of classical music

This mixed bill emerges as a living testament to the enduring vitality of the masterpieces of Mozart, Vivaldi, and Beethoven. Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort and Sechs Tänze (Six Dances) both channel Mozart’s brilliance. In Petite Mort, Kylián navigates the intricate dance between desire and intimacy, set to the sublime strains of Piano Concertos No. 21 and 23. Sechs Tänze contrasts lightheartedness with melancholy, subtly uncovering the complexities of an era behind its playful facade.

Stephan Thoss’ Thundering Silence dives into the emotional depths of Vivaldi’s concertos, presenting a meditative exploration of the fragile bond between humanity and nature. Garrett Smith’s Complete, choreographed to Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony, echoes with themes of fate and self-discovery, transforming the stage into a vibrant exploration of individuality and freedom. Together, these works forge a profound dialogue between music and movement, resonating across time.
