The evening will feature two excerpts from Syntonie by Janie and Marcio, winners of the 2019 TV dance show RÉVOLUTION, as well as captivating performances by Adrian Batt and Jane Mappin. Homines Per Terram by Adrian Batt The piece Homines per Terram features three young men to illustrate a peaceful, regenerative masculinity in the natural cycle. It criticizes the lack of application of this idea, which is at the root of many persistent social and global problems. The work seeks to re-establish the male bond with the earth, and expresses deep gratitude for its natural vitality. Syntonie by Janie Richard & Marcio Paulino Syntonie encourages us to reflect on courage, the importance of others, overcoming our limits and achieving the unthinkable. Following the different phases of a day, from dawn to night, the work offers a metaphor for an artistic journey. The term “syntonie” evokes the ability of circuits to transmit and receive waves of the same frequency, illustrating our interactions. Sans Toi[T] by Janie Richard & Marcio Paulino Sans Toi[T] is a choreographic creation by Janie & Marcio, a dynamic duo in the world of dance. Their new piece draws its inspiration from encounters around a table, where everyone shares their experiences and memories. This original show explores how our memories shape our identity and our vision of the world. Fleeting moments: Studies in being Human by Jane Mappin Fleeting moments: Studies in being Human is a collaboration between composer/cellist Erich Kory, dancer/choreographer Jane Mappin and performer Rosalie Paquette. The work explores the shifting landscape of memory: how our minds filter personal recollections and our imaginations colour lived experiences, but our bodies never forget. Two performers from different generations reflect on their individual narratives in an authentic rendering of what it means to be human.
