Flamenco Festival on a Summer Night was created to bring joy to Montreal fans of flamenco and tango, as well as to say goodbye to the summer season.

The first half of the show will feature Argentine tango, with Laura Cadabon (Buenos Aires) performing in a quartet: piano, bandoneon, double bass and guitar. She will be joined by interpreter Irem Bekter and a couple of dancers.

In the second half, the spotlight turns to Spanish flamenco with Sevillian dancer Federico Nuñez as guest of honour. A master of flamenco dance, he will seduce you with his aesthetic movements, his elegance and the powerful energy of his dance. Among other works, he will present a tribute to Leonard Cohen.

Musical direction will be provided by maestro Andrés Parodi, a virtuoso flamenco guitarist who will be accompanied by the sounds of Laura Cadabon’s Argentine bandoneon; Ziya Tabassian‘s oriental percussion; Hanser Santos‘s flamenco cajon; Julie Rousseau‘s voice and piano; and the voice of Seville-based Spanish singer Carlos Lobo.

This show will also pay tribute, through poetry and song, to the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca and Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.

A musical journey to the roots of flamenco, sounds of the Orient, gypsy sounds from Eastern countries, Spanish Arab-Andalusians, and South American tango. A must-see evening for lovers of flamenco and Argentine tango!
