The 2024 Montreal Highland Games returns to the grounds of The Douglas Hospital in Verdun, Quebec on Sunday, August 4, 2024 for a full-day celebration of Scottish culture. The event will feature traditional Scottish music, dance, athletics, and food.

“The Games are a tribute to all those who came before us. Countless men and women who offered their time and money to preserve Scottish culture in Montreal. We remain grateful to our present day sponsors and volunteers who continue this tradition. The Games wouldn’t happen without them,” says newly elected President of the Games, Cameron Stevens.

The 2024 Montreal Highland Games will feature a full slate of events, including:
Piping and drumming competitions: The piping and drumming competitions are a highlight of the Montreal Highland Games. Pipers and drummers from Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes and the Eastern US, compete in a variety of events, including solo piping, pipe band and Drum Major competitions.
Highland dancing competitions: Highland dancing is a traditional Scottish dance that is performed to Scottish bagpipe music. The competitions at the Montreal Highland Games feature dancers of all ages and skill levels.
Heavy athletics competitions: Heavy athletics competitions are a unique Scottish tradition. This invitation-only competition features elite athletes from across Canada, the USA, Europe and Scotland competing in the “Montreal Highland Games World Team Challenge”. The competition begins at 9:00 am and ends at 5:30pm. There is a break for the Opening Ceremonies at 12:30pm.
Celtic music: the Montreal Highland Games are thrilled to welcome back fan favourites Mariner’s Curse along with Scotland’s premier bagpipe Celt-Rockers Gleadhraich in the Ceilidh tent as well as traditional fiddle music in the Fiddlers tent along the Celtic Mile.
● Scottish food and drink: The Montreal Highland Games feature a variety of traditional Scottish food and drink, including haggis, neeps, and tatties, fish and chips, and whisky tasting, all which can be found with vendors located along the Celtic Mile. Foodies can purchase tickets to the Burgundy Lion’s Patrons’ Pavilion and enjoy a full buffet and open bar while watching the athletics from reserved seats.
Over twelve Clans will be participating and they look forward to connecting with family members who want to learn more about their heritage.

The Montreal Highland Games are a family-friendly event and admission is free for children 14 and under. All Montrealers are encouraged to take the opportunity to experience Scottish culture and enjoy a fun-filled day with family and friends. Hop on the free shuttle bus at Angrignon Métro.

The Montreal Highland Games, established in 1855, are the oldest Scottish festival in Quebec. The event attracts close to 7,000 spectators each year.
