Celebrating Japan and its famous cuisine!

The 5th edition of YATAI MTL, with Asahi Super Dry as presenter, takes place on the green grounds around Hangar 1825, Lachine Canal National Historic Site. Experience four days of total immersion in Japanese culture. On the program: over 30 culinary kiosks, more than 30 stands selling Japanese products, and many other activities. The event also features a cultural program, attracting over 30,000 enthusiasts and curious visitors every year. A not-to-be-missed invitation to travel without leaving Montreal, to celebrate Japan and its street food!

ON THE PROGRAM:
● More than 25 culinary kiosks await you with tasty dishes such as Karaage fried chicken, ramen, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Yakitori, mochi and many more.
● Over 30 booths of Japanese products offering traditional kimonos and accessories, eco-friendly bento boxes, art prints, handmade ceramics, matcha, art prints, handmade ceramics to name but a few.
● A rich cultural program is also planned. Here’s an overview of some of the events you won’t want to miss:

– Open Stage – J-POP dance & song performances on Friday, June 14 from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday, June 16 from 5 to 7 pm
– SHIBALADE + Shiba and Akita competition おしゃれ oshare (styled) Saturday, June 15, 1 to 5 pm
– A piano concert of Studio Ghibli film music by pianist Kanae Nobori, preceded by a Ghibli Cosplay contest on Saturday, June 15 from 2 to 4 pm
– An 80s Japanese disco Citypop party on Saturday, June 15 from 5 to 10 pm
– A Kendo demonstration by the McGill Kendo Club and the Montreal Kendo and Taekwondo Club on Sunday at 1 pm

Festival-goers can quench their thirst at the Bistro SAQ with a selection of the finest saké. Several members of the Saké Québec Association will also be on hand to serve their selection of sake. Montrealers can also enjoy Asahi beer, Japan’s most popular brand and the event’s presenter, as well as sake cocktails and a selection of Suntory whisky.

Dogs are welcome at YATAI MTL. Shiba “pawrents” even get VIP entry on Saturday.
