A former member of Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, Simon Leclerc studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal while immersing himself in a variety of musical worlds, from pop chorister (with Céline Dion) to musicals (Gala, Les misérables). He almost immediately became a highly in-demand arranger and composer for artists the world over. A record producer and film and documentary composer, he also writes for television. He has numerous symphonic concerts to his credit featuring Mika, Coeur de Pirate, Bruno Pelletier, Isabelle Boulay, Starmania, Notre-Dame de Paris, Simple Plan, Rufus Wainright and Marie-Mai, to name only those. In 2005, Simon Leclerc conducted Charles Aznavour’s symphonic concert series in Canada. Kent Nagano commissioned two concertos from him: one for radio host and orchestra, the other for four bassoons, contrabassoon and orchestra. In 2020, he began composing a symphonic adaptation of the group Harmonium’s complete works, and the resulting double CD has sold over 150,000 copies.
