Music at the Movies

The FILMharmonic Orchestra, led by talented conductor Francis Choinière, returns for a 3rd installment of the spectacular concert Music at the Movies, this time, across Quebec! Well-known at Place des Arts for their performances of iconic film music as well as popular classical repertoire, the Ensemble is set to bring yet another masterful selection of soundtracks.

The Ensemble will also be bringing back some of the repertoire recorded on their recent album, which includes themes such as Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (Somewhere in Time), Schindler’s List, and Cinema Paradiso!

Founded by Denis Chabot, the FILMharmonic Orchestre is Canada’s premier film music orchestra composed of world-class Canadian musicians.

Francis Choinière, conductor

Choinière is highly engaged in the Canadian music scene. As the co-founder and president of GFN Productions, he is passionate about expanding and developing classical music audiences through the presentation of new symphonic programs with film including Fantasia, Star Wars, Titanic, and Lord of the Rings. Choinière completed his Master’s Degree in Conducting at McGill University, studying with Alexis Hauser, and has received many scholarships and prizes during his studies. Choinière has refined his conducting in masterclasses with renowned conductors including Francois Xavier Roth, Yoav Talmi, and Colin Metters.
