Anne Queffélec

Celebrated on the world’s most prestigious stages, each one of French pianist Anne Queffélec’s performances is an unforgettable event. Back at Bourgie Hall after a highly-acclaimed appearance in 2018, she will delight the public with a two-part recital. The first half will comprise works by three composers born in 1685: Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel and Domenico Scarlatti, while the second will feature Schubert’s exquisite D. 960 piano sonata.

Regarded as one of today’s most remarkable pianistic personalities, Anne Queffélec is a radiant presence on the musical scene.

Her busy international career has taken her to the principal centres and most prestigious concert halls of Europe, Japan, Hong-Kong, China, Canada, USA …She is invited by foremost orchestras amongst them, London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony, Birmingham Sympony, Academy of ST-Martin in the fields, Zuidnederland Phiharmonie, Tokyo NHK, Hong-Kong Philharmonic, Radio-France orchestras National et Philharmonique, Prague Philharmonia, Kremerata Baltica, Sinfonia Varsovia…with such conductors as Boulez, Foster, Zinman, Conlon, Jordan, Semkov, Gardiner, Gilbert, Inoue, Belohlavek, Eschenbach, Holliger, Janowsky, and more.

Awarded ”Artist of the year”at the French “Victoires de la musique” 1990, she appears regularly at numerous festivals, including London Proms, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Grange de Meslay, Dijon, Lille, and La Folle Journée de Nantes.

Passionately concerned by necessary artistical transmission, she gives very frequent masterclasses in France and abroad, Europe, China, Japan, and is regularly invited to participate in famous international piano competitions, Queen Elisabeth, Beethoven, Schumann, Hamamatsu, Seoul, München, Haskil, etc…

Both on stage and on records, she cultivates a wide-ranging repertoire, as showed by more than 40 recordings from Scarlatti to Dutilleux published by Erato, Virgin classics and now Mirare, often awarded by “Diapason d’or”. In 2019 Erato produced a 21 cds box of all her recordings between 1970 and 1996.

She was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur and Commandeur de l’ordre du Mérite by the French government.
