The show will feature a line up of outstanding performers from across the country including Juno award winners Dave Merheje, Ivan Decker and Sophie Buddle, Just For Laughs favourite Salma Hindy, and Eman El-Husseini, whose comedy special can be seen on Crave. Rick Mercer Rick Mercer is a Canadian comedian, television personality, political satirist, and author. He is best known for his work on the CBC Television comedy shows This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made In Canada, and Rick Mercer Report. Mercer has received nearly 30 Gemini Awards and Canadian Screen awards for his work on television, and his CBC Television special Talking To Americans remains the highest rated Canadian comedy special ever with 2.7 million viewers. Mercer is the author of four books, all of which have been national best sellers, and has also written for Time, Maclean’s, The Globe and Mail, and The National Post. His most recent newest book – Talking to Canadians: A Memoir – is available now. He is a recipient of the Governor Generals Performing Arts Award, an Officer of the Order of Canada, and a proud native of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Salma Hindy Salma Hindy is a first generation Egyptian-Canadian Comedian. With her fast rise to comedy, Salma has opened for Ken Jeong, Maz Jobrani, Ramy Youssef, Beth Stelling, James Adomian, and has most recently opened for Chelsea Handler on her Peoples Choice Awards Winning Tour: Vaccinated & Horny. She has performed at the Just for Laughs New Faces Festival in Montreal, JFL NorthWest, the SF Sketchfest, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, the Chicago Women Funny Fest and the New York Arab-American Comedy Festival. Salma has been featured on the CBC, Globe and Mail, CityNews, Refinery29 and more. She’s performed on CBC’s Laugh Out Loud, CBC Gem’s “New Wave of StandUp” , Comedy Night with Rick Mercer, and CTV’s Stand Up with Jon Dore. She’s performed on Roast Battle Canada, Seasons 1 & 2. She gave a Tedx talk about her emotional journey in comedy titled “Why People Pleasing is Hurting You.” Salma’s debut comedy album, Born on 9/11 has recently received rave reviews on Hype Magazine, The Star, Comedy Cake, Patron and Pearl and The Manitoban. Salma has her own episode on True Dating Stories where she chronicles going on a blind date chaperoned by her Imam father. In addition to her booming stand up career, Salma is an emerging screenwriter and actress. She currently works in a writers’ room for an Amazon original animated comedy series created by Ramy Youssef, as well as a half-hour dark comedy series in development with CBC. In addition to the above, Salma has her own half-hour comedy series in development with Crave (Bell media). Dave Merheje Dave co-stars alongside Ramy Youssef and Mo Amer in the award winning comedy series Ramy on Hulu. As a stand up, Dave has made multiple appearances at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, JFL42 in Toronto, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia, and tours clubs and theatres regularly. In 2018 Dave released his comedy special “Good Friend Bad Grammar” which is available on Amazon Prime, and won the 2019 Juno Award for Comedy Album of the year. His most recent comedy special, Beautifully Manic, can be seen on Netflix as part of Comedians of the World, right now. Sophie Buddle Sophie Buddle is a stand-up, a tv writer, and a podcaster. You’ve seen her on CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes as a correspondent and as a staff writer, she’s also been featured on JFL All Access, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax Comedy Festival. Sophie released her first album this year, “Lil Bit Of Buddle”. She released it herself so you can find it on iTunes in the genre “easy listening” which was a mistake, but it is easy to listen to so it’s ok. Her podcast Obsessed with Sophie Buddle was also an instant hit and you can see it live at JFL42 in September. She is also a two-time runner up for Canada’s biggest stand-up contest SiriusXM Top Comic and headlines across the country. Ivan Decker Award winning comedian, Ivan Decker is one of the country’s best. He has been featured on CBC, CTV, TBS and many other media outlets as part of shows such as: The Debaters, Just for Laughs, CONAN and he has a half hour special on NETFLIX. In 2018, Ivan was also the first Canadian in 34 years to win a JUNO award for comedy album of the year. Originally from Vancouver, He has toured nationally and internationally as part of the Just for Laughs road show, and the Comedy Night in Canada series. His clean sharp comedy has been called “smart, original and slick” by the UK’s Chortle magazine. Eman El-Husseini Eman El-Husseini is a Canadian-Palestinian comedian currently living in NYC. She is a Just For Laughs favourite, and has performed as part of their festivals in Toronto, Australia, and her hometown of Montreal. She headlines regularly across Canada, and opens for Patton Oswalt. She has recorded two comedy albums, Unveiled and Handsome Daughter, both of which can be heard on SiriusXM Radio. In addition to her solo work, she is one half of The El-Salomons – a comedy duo with her wife, comedian Jess Solmon. Together they mix jokes and stories inspired by their relationship with observational humour about love in general. They have travelled everywhere to perform, from San Francisco Sketchfest to the Boston Women in Comedy Festival – and even to the arctic!
