Orchestre Philharmonique et Choeur des Mélomanes

The Orchestre Philharmonique et Choeur des Mélomanes (OPCM) is a Montreal-based music organization  known for its fresh, dynamic sound and dedicated to the development, promotion, and advancement of choral music. Comprising a choir of sixty singers, which presents bi-annual concerts alongside an orchestra of emerging young talented musicians, the OPCM strives to be recognized as a premiere youth choir by building its reputation for excellence and innovation locally, provincially and nationally.

The ensemble was founded in 2016 by Francis Choinière and Elie Boissinot. In just a few years, OPCM has reached more than 60 000 spectators and grown into an organization recognized for its unique contribution to choral music in Montreal. This recognition comes in several forms: invitations to sing at world-class venues for classical music by internationally renowned artistic directors; participation in choral music projects involving collaborations with other musical groups working at a professional level and with soloists of the highest caliber working in classical music today.

In 2018, the performance at Carnegie Hall was under the baton of a leading figure in the world of choral conducting, Jean-Sebastian Vallée. Collaborations have featured OPCM and ensured our recognition as one of Montreal’s leading ensembles including the performance of “Mass of the Armed Man” at the Lanaudière International Festival in the summer of 2018, directed by established British conductor Stephen Layton. The choir also participated in several live concerts at Montreal’s Centre Bell, such as Game of Thrones Live directed by Ramin Djawadi, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman and Hans Zimmer live concerts.
