Danse Danse presents

Ebnflōh

La Probabilité du Néant

Eight street dancers burst onto the large stage of Théâtre Maisonneuve, where the audience is also seated, united in proximity. ‘Spicey’’s incisive dance questions our individual and collective responsibility.

Alexandra ‘Spicey’ Landé draws her raw material from hip-hop culture, whose field of exploration she is constantly expanding. She founded the Bust A Move Festival (2005–2015), a major street dance competition, before pursuing an intense and striking choreographic approach. Her work In-Ward won the 2019 Prix de la danse de Montréal award for Discovery of the Year.

How can we make sense of our actions when we witness extreme situations that take us to the edge of the void? Blurring the lines and playing with perspective depending on who is looking, La Probabilité du Néant—’Spicey’’s sixth work and her fourth for her company Ebnflōh—takes a lucid look at our perception, our judgement and the consequences of our choices, and highlights our tremendous capacity for resistance and resilience.
