OPENWORLD: Video game music live in concert

OPENWORLD featuring exciting arrangements of video game music for a chamber ensemble of world-class musicians, performing music from series and titles such as Halo, Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon and many others. Selections range from ‘90s classics to your favorite recent releases. It is an opportunity to experience this exhilarating live performance of beloved video game music!

Francis Choinière, conductor

Named as one of the CBC’s “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30,” in 2020, Francis Choinière is a versatile musician active as a conductor, concert producer, pianist, and composer. Francis has collaborated with some of the world’s top international artists having been engaged as chorus master and collaborative conductor for concerts with Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Ramin Djawad, Hans Zimmer and Jonsi & Alex Somers.

Choinière holds positions of Artistic Director and Conductor of the OPCM (Orchestre Philharmonique et Choeur des Mélomanes), L’Ensemble Vocal Trame Sonore, l’Ensemble Classico Moderne, and Conductor of the Choeur Fernand Lindsay for the Festival de Lanaudière collaborating with conductors such as Stephan Layton (Trinity College) and Corrado Rovaris (Philadelphia Opera).

Choinière is highly engaged in the Canadian music scene. As the co-founder and President of GFN Productions, he is passionate expanding and developing classical music audiences through the presentation of new symphonic programs with film including Fantasia, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings.

Choinière completed his Master’s Degree at McGill University in conducting with Alexis Hauser and has received many scholarships and prizes including the prestigious Hnatyshyn Foundation, Christa and Franz-Paul Decker Conducting Fellowship. He has refined his conducting in masterclasses with renowned conductors including, Francois Xavier Roth, Yoav Talmi, and Colin Metters.
