A Conversation with Alexandra Palmer: The Legacy of Christian Dior

Christian Dior

Evening dress, Cygne Noir, Christian Dior, Fall-Winter 1949 Collection. Gift of Margaret Rawlings Hart

Appreciate Christian Dior‘s “New Look” from every angle during a conversation between Alexandra Palmer, Senior Curator, Nora E. Vaughan Fashion Costume Curatorship at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, and Cynthia Cooper, Head, Collections and Research, and Curator, Dress, Fashion and Textiles at the McCord Museum.

Ms. Palmer will explore the technical specifics and socio-cultural context that brought about Dior’s overnight success, a popularity that endures to this day. You’ll also discover details and hear anecdotes about how the McCord Museum and the Royal Ontario Museum worked together to open the landmark exhibition.

The virtual conversation in English will be followed by a public discussion period in French and English. This is a chance to put all your questions to the fashion experts live.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2020, at 12pm

The event will take place online on Zoom and will also be broadcast live on the McCord Museum’s social networks.
