The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) is delighted to be able to welcome visitors back!

In order for them to offer you a pleasant and safe visit, visitors will be required to book a time slot for their visit by purchasing tickets online, which can be done as of Tuesday, June 2. You will be able to see Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives, as the British Museum’s mummies and artifacts will exceptionally continue their adventure at the MMFA until June 28, 2020. This is the only exhibition that will be open to the public for the time being. New health measures put in place will ensure visitors’ safety as well as enable them to explore the exhibition more comfortably and in depth.

Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives

Already seen by more than 245,000 visitors, Egyptian Mummies uses a cutting-edge approach marrying the arts and science to show a perspective never before seen on the lives of six individuals who lived along the Nile between 900 B.C.E. and 180 C.E. The extension of this major exhibition, which was scheduled to end March 29, will offer you a second chance to experience this marvel – a must for the whole family!

The MMFA has put every measure in place to ensure visits are highly enjoyable, exclusive yet intimate, and, above all, safe. All of the recommendations of the Government of Quebec and the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) have been implemented so that you feel at ease and entertained during your Museum outing.

✔️ Visitors must absolutely book their tickets online and select the date and time of their visit, which they can do as of June 2, 2020. Museum Members will also have to reserve their tickets online, which will be free, as visits are included in their membership.

✔️ Tickets will be date-time stamped in order to control the flow of visitors. This new rule will ensure public safety as well as allow visitors a more intimate exploration of the exhibition.

✔️ The wearing of face coverings will be strongly recommended.

✔️ Hydroalcoholic gel will be dispensed in the entrance areas.

✔️ A one-way exhibition pathway and direction indicators on the floor will help visitors adhere to the physical distancing measures in effect.

✔️ Audioguides will be available only on the MMFA’s mobile app and will be free of charge. Museum staff will be on hand to assist visitors and answer their questions.

✔️ The exhibition Boutique and Bookstore will be open.

✔️ The following services will not be offered: the cloakroom, on-site audioguide rentals, the restaurant and café, workshops, guided tours and educational activities.

✔️ The galleries housing the collections and discovery exhibitions will be closed. Egyptian Mummies will be the only exhibition open to the public.

✔️ It is strongly recommended that people with reduced mobility or special needs notify the Museum of their upcoming visit. Customer service team can be reached at 514-285-2000, seven days a week, from 9 am to 5 pm.
