Les Mélodînes – Cameron Crozman and Philip Chiu

Cellist Cameron Crozman shares his passion for French music. With pianist Philip Chiu, two sonatas for cello and piano will be performed.

Described as a musician of “profound musical imagination” (Toronto Concert Reviews), Cameron Crozman has established himself as one of Canada’s leading young cellists. He plays on the ca. 1696 “Bonjour” Stradivarius cello and the ca. 1830 “Shaw” Adam cello bow generously loaned from the Canada Council for the Arts Instrument Bank. Engagements have taken Cameron to important venues throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, he regularly appears as a soloist with orchestras in Canada and France and has performed with the likes of James Ehnes, André Laplante, James Campbell, and members of the Ébène, St. Lawrence, and New Orford String Quartets. Cameron has collaborated with composers including Kaija Saariaho, Peteris Vasks, and Kelly-Marie Murphy, and has premiered a number of new works dedicated to him. Selected as one of six cellists for Gautier Capuçon’s 2016-17 Classe d’Excellence at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, Cameron holds a Master Degree in cello and chamber music as well as an artist diploma from the Paris Conservatory.

He concertizes extensively as soloist and chamber musician, appearing in recitals with leading international musicians including James Ehnes, Regis Pasquier and Raphael Wallfisch. He performs regularly with Jonathan Crow, concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony and Andrew Wan, co-concertmaster of l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. He is a veteran touring artist with Prairie Debut, Jeunesses Musicales Canada, and Debut Atlantic.
