A Pulitzer Prize Finalist, this stimulating play which explores memory and mortality in the age of artificial intelligence will be on the Segal stage from February 25 to March 18, 2018. “Marjorie Prime is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind meets Black Mirror”– Quartz Eighty-five-year-old Marjorie, grappling with fading memories, receives help from a handsome new companion who’s programmed to feed back only the best stories of her life. But given the chance, what would we remember, what would we forget? In this wondrous, touching, and clever new play, Jordan Harrison explores the mysteries of human identity, collective family memory, and the limits — if any — of what technology can replace. Masterful Artists Breathe Soul into AI Drama The Segal Centre is delighted to welcome back Canadian stage legend Clare Coulter in the role of Marjorie. This is Coulter’s fifth production with the Segal. She had previously dazzled audiences in the Segal’s productions of A Doll House, Fallen Angels, Blithe Spirit, and the National Arts Centre co-production of Buried Child. Accomplished artist and Montreal favourite Ellen David will be playing the role of Tess, Marjorie’s headstrong daughter. David last moved Segal audiences in the critically-acclaimed My Name Is Asher Lev, for which she won the META for Outstanding Supporting Performance by an Actress. Also returning to the Segal is Tyrone Benskin as Jon, Tess’ doting husband. Benskin’s significant presence in theatre, film, television, and music has been a part of the Canadian and international cultural landscape for over 25 years. His last appearance at the Segal was in the classic Inherit the Wind. Making his Segal debut is local actor Eloi ArchamBaudoin. He won the META for Outstanding Lead Performance for his work in the Tableau d’Hôte Theatre production of Michel Tremblay’s Hosanna. Director Lisa Rubin, who directed the wildly successful Bad Jews and Million Dollar Quartet, has assembled a talented team of designers to bring this Twilight Zone-esque production to life: Set Designer John C.
