Salute to Vienna

Experience the joy and magic of Viennese music when Salute to Vienna returns to Place des Arts to celebrate its 20th Montreal anniversary on January 1 with an all new program conceived to charm the public in attendance.

This elegant celebration features brilliant artists and The Strauss Symphony of Montreal led by Austrian maestro Alexander Steinitz. Canadian soprano Lyne Fortin joins an international cast for a glorious bouquet of famous operetta excerpts, waltzes bearing the signature of the “Waltz King”, Johann Strauss Jr. and his contemporaries as well everyone’s favorite polkas.

Over the years, Salute to Vienna has become a favorite holiday musical tradition throughout North America. It is delightfully reminiscent of Vienna’s famous Neujahrskonzert, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for over 70 years and televised annually to 1.3 billion people around the globe.
