LES ARTS FLORISSANTS

MONTEVERDI’S MADRIGALS – MANTOVA

This programme marks the 450th anniversary of Claudio Monteverdi’s birth.

Monteverdi composed over 160 madrigals that render the powerfully emotional content of poetic texts from the early Baroque, charged with joy, tenderness, and torment. Les Arts Florissants, one of the world’s top ensembles, presents excerpts from Madrigal Books, which Monteverdi composed in Mantua, the city where he also perfected the art of polyphony.

This concert is presented in collaboration with the Club musical de Québec and will also be presented at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec City on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 8 p.m.
