Jazz, klezmer, classical, traditional music… Orchestre symphonique de Montréal resident organist Jean-Willy Kunz unveils all the versatility of this instrument traditionally associated with church music.

In addition to playing both with the Orchestra and in recital, Jean-Willy Kunzsees to the development and showcasing of the OSM’s Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique at Maison Symphonique.

His most recent and upcoming performances include concerts with l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, les Violons du Roy, le Cirque du Soleil, as well as with the singers Pierre Lapointe, Rufus et Martha Wainwright, Karen Young, Diane Dufresne et Bïa.

His discography includes many recordings which reflect the broad range of his musical influences: Symphonie et créations pour orgue et orchestre with the OSM (Juno Award 2016); Punkt with Pierre Lapointe; André Gagnon Baroque for harpsichord and symphony orchestra; traditional music of the Balkans for saxophones and organ.

Jean-Willy Kunz holds a doctorate in organ performance from McGill University and is organ professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
