Les FrancoFolies de Montréal

29th edition

A summer of music begins with Les Francos!

Since 1989, Les FrancoFolies de Montréal has been the true reflection of a thriving French-speaking music world! Every year, Montrealers and tourists throng to the safe, festive FrancoFolies site for an entire 10 days in the downtown core, to savour the best musical talents of the French-speaking world. Let’s tell it like it is: Montreal is the place to let loose!

With 150 outdoor concerts added to the program, our artists sing and dance en français with accents from the world over, from Belgium to Algeria, Québec to Acadia, and on to Ivory Coast, France, Guinea and Switzerland… And with rock, hip-hop, electronica, world music, pop, reggae and folk, literally everyone can find his or her perfect groove! Over one million visits are expected on our incredible Quartier des Spectacles, and the spotlights will be trained on our city as it bursts into full summer festival bloom.

Two iconic anniversaries to celebrate!

Vive Montréal aux Francos! The 375th Anniversary Event, presented by Hydro-Québec.

Les Cowboys Fringants, IAM, LOUVE, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Philippe Brach, and K.O.K.A. — June 18 from 3 p.m., Ford Stage; from 6:30 p.m., Bell Stage

Thanks to the Society for the Celebrations of Montreal’s 375th Anniversary, the Francos add another day to the schedule on Sunday, June 18 to throw an immense party, completely free of charge, from 3 p.m. to midnight! A slew of the biggest names in francophone music from here, Europe and Africa will follow one another onstage in this historic, unprecedented concert event: 9 hours of non-stop music, from rock to reggae, rap to pop, electronica to chanson!

Fêtons notre diversité (Celebrate Our Diversity)! June 27, 2 p.m., Parterre symphonique
It’s a very special event celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canada! As proud as ever to promote cultural diversity, the FrancoFolies de Montréal have organized this special celebration to mark Canadian Multiculturalism Day. Montrealers and tourists from every background are invited to participate in an array of fun activities, where music, fun and a gigantic BBQ hold sway, along with a program conceived in collaboration with Vision Diversité, Mundial Montréal and the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique de Montréal.

Major new additions this year: it’s action-packed on the outdoor site!

One thing is certain: you’ll love strolling the Francos outdoor site this year! The Place des Arts Esplanade has been redesigned to transport everyone to the Paris of a bygone era… The Bal pop’ Loto-Québec features décor invoking Montmartre, where resto kiosks serve up French flavours, while Le Petit Orchestre Parisien entertains and gets the crowd dancing every day from 6 p.m.

On the Place des Festivals, we’re getting a surprise ready for you, with local artists performing in the brand-new Studio Bell on the 3rd floor of the Boîte Bell. Details are forthcoming, but one thing’s for sure: these artists have been put to the test!

It’s also the return of the Foire des Francos presented once again this year by CISM, the friendly flea market where fans love to rummage through the wares, chat and support local artisans! The program showcases music, art and fashion, with more than 60 exhibitors, CISM DJ sets (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Le Couleur as guest artist (2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.), not to mention all the hot dogs, ping-pong tables and beer. And admission is free! Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Zone Coors Light.

And that’s not all! The musical installation 21 Balançoires created by Daily will be accessible throughout the duration of the festival. Francofans can try them out on the Promenade des Artistes, between De Maisonneuve Blvd. and Président Kennedy Ave..
