Bride and Groom of the Eiffel Tower – NEM

Bride and GroomLes mariés de la tour Eiffel (Bride and Groom of the Eiffel Tower, 1938-1939) is the title of both a painting by Chagall and a Surrealist collective ballet composed in 1921 to a libretto by Jean Cocteau. This work is preceded by Poulenc’s trendy Parisian cantata, a masterpiece by Debussy, and a fanciful suite by Germaine Tailleferre, the only woman member of the famous Groupe des Six.
