Doulce Mémoire

The art of improvisation boasts a long and venerable history: it was part and parcel of every musician’s practice in the 16th and 17th centuries. This programme takes its name from one of the most famous madrigals of the sixteenth century, Pierre Sandrin’s Doulce Mémoire, which inspired many other composers.
