From the famous Nutcracker Suite to Medtner’s Four Fairy Tales, Gulyak conveys delicate sensitivity born of her cultural heritage. With characteristic intensity, she then attacks Prokofiev’s Sixth Piano Sonata, the first of the composer’s three great “War Sonatas”.
