Virée classique presents

The National Youth Orchestra of Canada

August 13, 2016     6:00pm – 6:45pm

After performing a series of concerts in Lisbon, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and its musical director, Ward Stare, will wrap up their 2016 tour in Montreal! Immerse yourself in the ebullience of Benvenuto Cellini, try to resist the spell of the sensual Syrinx, as personified by Timothy Hutchins’ flute, and hum along to the enduring melodies of the American musical West Side Story. A wonderful opportunity to get caught up in the infectious enthusiasm of youth!

OSM Classical Spree / Virée classique

Classical SpreeThe 5th edition of the OSM Classical Spree Festival is a grand celebration of classical music, where great international masters meet a new generation of rising talent, performing work by composers of yesterday and today. With a colourful offering of more than 30 concerts over 4 days, the possibilities are nearly endless. Chamber music, recitals, vocal music, world music, youth oriented concerts, and of course symphonic concerts make up the varied programming.  This year the programming breaches the traditional borders of the concert hall, with a whole new series of free outdoor performances, movie and opera screenings.
