This one-of-a-kind occasion provides an inside look at the world of fashion and design through a diversified program of activities. Every year, many well-known Canadian designers, retailers, up-and-coming creators and international fashion icons will share their art and vision with the public. The activities include fashion shows, live creative sessions, design showcasing and musical performances. A Few Festival Highlights Hervé Léger-Leroux Monday August 15, 2016 7:00PM – 8:00PM Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal Hervé Léger-Leroux, skilled from a young age, first developed an interest for hairstyling before expressing himself as a hat and handbag designer. Finally discovering his real calling, his passion for dressmaking led him to be sought after by the famous Karl Lagerfeld. He was immediately hired as an assistant for Fendi and later by Chanel. Known for his transformation of the traditional flowing dress into the ultra-feminine cocktails dress, he now dresses elegant women around the world. His unusual path has turned him into a fashion legend. Lise Watier & Jeanne Beker Wednesday August 17, 2016 7:30PM – 8:30PM Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal Lise Watier’s journey to become one of Canada’s most admired business women was unexpected. She started in television where she was forced to overcome her shyness. After a short career in television, she turned her attention to cosmetics in 1972. This admired business woman will share her journey as an entrepreneur that has led her to become the head of the empire that we know today. This conference will be held in collaboration with Jeanne Beker, a leader in Canadian fashion journalism and the host of the Fashion Television show broadcasted worldwide. Jeanne started her career with a degree in drama and had a short career as an actress before working on radio shows and television. She is now known for the art of translating the language of high fashion into simple terms. Claude Cormier Thursday August 18, 2016 10AM – 11AM Never Apart Landscape architect and urban designer, Claude Cormier’s approach always pushed the boundaries of traditional notions of landscape architecture. His work links urban design, public art and architecture. His unconventional approach subtly combines the real with the surreal. Throughout his career, he has won over 72 prizes and honorable mentions. The Architectural League of New York ranked him amongst the 14 most influential designers that have set in motion the evolution of the world of design.
