An Evening with the Cast of Veep

HBO’s Emmy® Award winning and Golden Globe® nominated series Veep is taking a break from politics with a live appearance in Montreal. Just For Laughs is thrilled to welcome Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine), winner of 4 consecutive Emmy® Awards for her portrayal of Vice President and subsequent President of the United States, Selina Meyer, for a conversation on one of the funniest comedic political satire shows ever made. Joining her on stage will be cast members Tony Hale, who plays personal aide Gary Walsh, Timothy Simons, who plays White House liaison Jonah Ryan, and showrunner, multiple Emmy® nominated David Mandel.


VeepJulia Louis-Dreyfus

● Julia Louis-Dreyfus earned worldwide acclaim and recognition for her portrayal of Elaine Benes in the hit NBC series Seinfeld, as Christine Campbell in the CBS hit comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine and most recently as Vice President Selina Meyer in the HBO series Veep
● Julia won four consecutive Emmy awards, a Television Critics Award and SAG award for her role as Vice President Selina Meyer on Veep, as well as three Golden Globe nominations
● Between all shows combined, she has received seven Emmy awards with twenty nominations, a Golden Globe award with eight nominations, six Screen Actors Guild awards with sixteen nominations, two Television Critics Association awards with three nominations, five American Comedy Awards with ten nominations, and has received the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy
● Feature film credits include Disney’s “Planes; Pixar’s animated hit A Bug’s Life; Woody Allen’s Academy-award winning Hannah and Her Sisters, Allen’s Deconstructing Harry; Rob Reiner’s North; Ivan Reitman’s Fathers’ Day, and Jack the Bear
● Julia is a committed and steadfast defender of the environment. She serves as a member on the leadership council for the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) as well as on the Board of Directors of Heal the Bay and on the Honorary Board of Heal the Ocean

Tony Hale

● Tony won two Emmy’s VeepOutstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Veep in 2013 and 2015
● Prior to Veep, he co-starred as the socially awkward Buster Bluth on the ground-breaking, Emmy Award-winning series Arrested Development, and was seen alongside Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in the Paul Feig directed action- comedy, The Heat
● Hale can be heard opposite Jason Sudekis, Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph in Sony Pictures’ animated film, Angry Birds, based on the hit mobile video game
● In 2014, Tony released his first children’s book, Archibald’s Next Big Thing, under Boxing Clever Publishing
● His first break came in 1999, when he gained recognition for his dance to “Mr. Roboto” in the popular television commercial for Volkswagen (this commercial was later spoofed in an episode of Arrested Development)

VeepTimothy Simons

● Timothy plays the salacious and hilarious Jonah Ryan on HBO’s critically-acclaimed comedy, Veep
● In 2014, 2015, and 2016, Timothy was nominated with the cast for a SAG Award in the category of “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.”
● Behind the scenes, Simons is putting his brilliant mind and writing talents to work with his Veep co-star Matt Walsh. The two are currently developing a football comedy titled Red Shirt with Paramount Studios to be produced by Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films
● Timothy appeared in the movie The Boss, starring Melissa McCarthy and directed by Ben Falcone, where he played right-hand man to a villainous Peter Dinklage.
● In 2014, Timothy appeared in The Interview alongside Seth Rogan and James Franco
● Other past projects include Bob Castrone’s comedy, Flock of Dudes, Summit’s Draft Day opposite Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner, and Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly’s Beneath the Harvest Sky

VeepDavid Mandel

● David Mandel is showrunner and Executive Producer of Veep
● He has been a multi-Emmy-nominated and multi-Emmy-losing writer for such shows as Saturday Night Live (92-95), Seinfeld where he wrote the The Bizarro Jerry (aka “Man-Hands”) and The Betrayal (the backwards episode with Peter Mehlman), Curb Your Enthusiasm, and even an episode of The Simpsons (“Treehouse of Horror XXIII” with Brian Kelley)
● Also, Clerks: The Cartoon which got no Emmy nominations
● He is the co-writer of such films as Eurotrip and The Dictator and if you press him on it The Cat in the Hat
● In 1997, he won the Writers Guild Award for Seinfeld’s “The Pool Guy.”
● His directing credits include Veep, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Comedians and Eurotrip (uncredited)
