PIANO 2014

Discover the world’s finest young pianists at the Montreal International Musical Competition. From May 26 to June 6, 24 candidates, most of them in their twenties, showcase their talent and vie for First Prize at the prestigious competition. 11 women and 13 men from 14 different countries, and with an average age of 23, have been selected to participate. Follow them all through the Quarter Final and Semi-final Rounds, from May 26 to 31 held at Bourgie Hall, at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

The Final round (June 3 and 4) and the gala concert featuring the winners (June 6) will take place at the Maison Symphonique de Montréal, with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero, who makes his Montreal debut.

The MIMC plays a key role in the finest tradition of classical concert music. The Competition seeks to discover and support young singers, violinists, and pianists who have distinguished themselves as masters of their art. Since the very first edition, dedicated to voice, in 2002, 2,300 candidates have applied to take part in the various editions. To the great delight of music lovers, 350 of them were given the opportunity to perform in Montreal.
