The Montreal International Jazz Festival presents…

Renowned actor and comedian Hugh Laurie has starred in various British cult series like Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder and, more recently in the American drama series House. But the multi-talented Laurie is also lesser-known as an accomplished musician. Two years ago, the self-taught Englishman showcased his command of American music on Let Them Talk, a solid selection of New Orleans standards. His latest effort, Didn’t It Rain, features blues standards like W.C. Handy’s St. Louis Blues and Jelly Roll Morton’s I Hate a Man Like You, along with more recent works such as Dr. John’s Wild Honey.

“I have resolved to forge on, deeper into the forest of American music that has enchanted me since I was a small boy,” explains Laurie.
